I don't think it's easy to escape from the past. Wherever we are, a sound, a feeling, or a smell takes us back to the past. So as long as we have memory, there is no way we can escape from the past. Maybe we can think that we are escaping the past by making some changes. For example, when we are among people who do not know us at all. But at the end of the day, we are on our own.

What binds man to his past is largely other people. If he doesn't use a calendar, a clock, he never goes out; if you keep the curtains completely closed and especially if you are alone, humanity, civilization; that is, you take an important step towards transforming many of the things that bind you to your evolutionary and cultural background.
