The Great Escape is a 1963 US movie. The IMDb website ranks 99th in the top 250 movies. The screenplay was written by James Clavell from Paul Brickhill's book of the same name. The script and book are inspired by an event that happened, and the film is dedicated to the 50 officers who died in this escape. Although he was nominated for the 1964 Oscar for best film editing, he did not win. But he won the best actor award for the lead actor Steve McQueen at the Moscow International Film Festival.
