Civil partnership, or civil partnership, is a type of partnership similar to marriage and is officially recognized in some countries. Civil partnerships give same-sex couples rights and responsibilities similar to marriage (in some countries the same as married couples). In 1989, Denmark became the first country in the world to legalize civil partnerships, and several other countries have legalized them since then. In some regions or countries, such as Québec, New Zealand and Uruguay, civil partnerships are also possible for heterosexual couples.
