Kronborg is a fortification and fortress located in Elsinore, Denmark. Immortalized as Elsinore in William Shakespeare's Hamlet, Kronborg is one of Northern Europe's most important Renaissance castles and is included in UNESCO's World Heritage list (2000). The fort is located at the narrowest point of ├śresund, at the northeast end of Zealand, in the strait between Denmark and Sweden. In this section, the strait is only 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) wide.
