Isabel Allende Llona (born August 2, 1942) is a Chilean writer. Allende was born in Lima, Peru, to the Chilean ambassador Tomás Allende. His mother is Francisca Llona Barros. She is also the nephew of Salvador Allende, who was president of She Chile between 1970 and 1973. In 1945, his parents separated and his mother relocated to Santiago, Chile with three children. He married Ramón Huidobro, whose mother was a diplomat, and they lived there until 1953. His stepfather was appointed diplomat to Bolivia and Lebanon. Isabel Allende attended American private school in Bolivia, and British private school in Beirut and Lebanon. They then returned to Chile in 1958 to complete their secondary education.
