AirPort, Apple Inc. is the name given to a series of products that use Wi-Fi (802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n and 802.11ac) protocols. These products consist of a set of wireless routers and wireless cards. The name AirPort Extreme was originally intended to show that the 802.11g protocol was added to these products. In Japan, the range is marketed under the AirMac brand, as it was previously registered by I-O Data. On April 26, 2018, Apple decided to discontinue its AirPort line. The sale of the remaining inventory is complete and Apple has partnered with Linksys and Netgear to sell network router products in Apple retail stores.
